  4. 04

    Check the first transaction

Enter a sale or purchase. Review the tax, stock movement, account entry and print format before daily use.

GST basics

Start with the right tax details.

Use this guide to prepare your records. Confirm current rules, eligibility and filing duties with your accountant and the official GST portal.

Which tax profile should I select?

Choose Regular GST, Composition or Non-GST to match your business registration. Regular and Composition profiles need a GSTIN and state. Composition taxpayers issue a bill of supply rather than a tax invoice. Do not choose a profile only to hide tax fields.

What should I check on a GST invoice?

Check the supplier and recipient details, GSTIN where applicable, invoice number and date, item description, HSN/SAC, taxable value, applicable rate and tax amount. Check place of supply and the treatment of discounts and charges.

How do CGST, SGST and IGST differ?

In general, intra-state taxable supplies use CGST with SGST or UTGST. Inter-state taxable supplies use IGST. Place-of-supply rules and special cases affect the treatment, so check the supply details rather than the customer address alone.

What are GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B?

GSTR-1 contains outward-supply details. GSTR-3B is a summary return for liabilities and input tax credit. GSTR-2B is an auto-drafted input tax credit statement. Review your sales and purchases against the relevant portal records before filing.

Does Lekkiga file my returns automatically?

Lekkiga provides GST working views and registers to help prepare and review your figures. Complete the applicable return filing on the government portal. For e-invoices and e-way bills, prepare the supported JSON, generate on the portal and record the returned details.

Popular topics

Make the daily checks a habit.

Billing & payments

Check the party, voucher date, items and payment mode before posting. If a balance looks wrong, review the linked entries in the account book.

Items & stock

Check the selected branch, material centre, units and batch or serial details. Reconcile opening stock before investigating later movements.

Users & permissions

Give staff access to the actions and branches they need. If an option is missing, ask your company administrator to review the user’s permissions.

Printing & labels

Check the format before the printer.

Choose the right document size: A4, A5, 80 mm thermal or a label template. Check the preview, paper size and printer settings. For local printing, confirm that the required printer bridge is running.

If the result is still wrong, send the printer model, paper size and the step that failed to support.

Migration

Plan the move. Check the opening position.

Keep a backup of the source system. For BUSY migration, review the source, map the records and check the preview. Reconcile party balances and item quantities before your cutover date.
